Well, at least Hershey's got some good promotion. At first we were wondering what they were thinking, since it looked like the contestants cleaned out the entire store, but then I said "I should go down to the Hershey's store soon and get my nephew one of those huge Twizzler's packages" and then Roommate said "I was just thinking the same thing for my nephews!!"

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Mon, January 7, 2008 - 8:48 AMI got reaslly upset that all those teddy bears were sacrificed and none of them used. So sad.
Sweet Pea's crap was such crap, and I am CRUSHED that Eliza Moonbeam got sent back to the ashram.
But yes, totally boring. Project Snoreway.

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Mon, January 7, 2008 - 9:40 AMI actually enjoyed the last episode. I loved Rami's dress (once again). The challenge itself was kind of lame, but I still enjoyed watching them put their garments together.
I also liked the prior episode, and loved the challenge of them having to remake the clothes for those women. I didn't think Steve was a good designer, but he still got majorly screwed by getting that woman's hideous wedding dress. -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Mon, January 7, 2008 - 6:27 PMI agree, Sweet Pea does crap work all the time and makes excuses for it. She should have gone home instead of Eliza, in fact I think she should have gone home when she did that really embarassing men's shirt for the Tikki Barber challenge. She really embarassed herself as a designer then!
Eliza was a little "different" (which is what you want in a designer) but at least she was original and completed her projects on time - without excuses.
Victoria, oh wait it's Victorya - bugs the hell out me!
I predict Rami, Christian, Kevin and Julie (is that her name - the one who did the licorice skirt) for the final four. -

Tue, January 8, 2008 - 8:16 AMI hope Kit makes it. She's the only one whose designs I have consistently liked all season.
However, I do predict that Ricky will cry next episode.

Tue, January 8, 2008 - 10:13 AMSweet P keeps on falling into the lucky position of having somebody else totally bomb way worse than she did. But now everybody else who wasn't in the better part of the group is gone (Carmen, Steven, Elisa). I think she'll be gone this week or next. -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Tue, January 8, 2008 - 3:59 PMjillian got way too lucky with that twissler get-up. the bodice/bustier(?) was barely holding together, and that plastic insert in front made for ill-fitting funkery. i was stunned überbitch garcia let that one slide with an überwhite smile, and even commenting on how great the fit was. if they had only seen her crying/whining about the construction, and had that model been up there swinging her fanny for a second longer, i know we would have seen some ropes drop. but she gets the kudos for being the only contestant (stupid) 'bold' enough to face the challenge.
sweet pea's outfit did look like a kotex box or something. something very sanitary.
and victoriyahya makes my butt itch. -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Tue, January 8, 2008 - 5:25 PMThank you for talking about that twizzler crap dress. It looked like an "old west harlot" meets "willy wonka". Awful fit. Yeah yeah yeah, we get it, you used candy, get over yourself. On the other hand, I LOVED Chris' dress- the optical Andy Warhol thing. Cute AND wearble. Rami's looked a little too cartoony for me, even though I know many people liked it.

Did you know that episode was the SECOND time the words "maxi pad" made an appearance?
The first time was Santino and the "13th look" and him not caring anymore, and figured he might was well send the model down with pasties and a maxi pad.
Go PR and the maxi pad references -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Tue, January 8, 2008 - 8:38 PMI agree that Sweet P's designs haven't been great, but I'm sorry--neither have Elisa's. That Hershey's get-up was just all kinds of wrong, and the outfit she made the week before, for the woman who had lost weight, was one of the ugliest things ever. There was nothing feminine or interesting about it, and it did nothing to help that woman show off her new figure. Normally, Michael Kors bugs me, but his comment about Elisa's outfit that night was right on: if you just lost a bunch of weight, would you want to wear something that made you look stubby and dumpy? And her menswear outfit was awful, too; it looked like something someone on Star Trek would wear. I think she just never seemed to think about who she was designing for; she just made what she wanted to make, and a lot of the time, that was somethin' ugly.
I second the props on Christian's Reese's dress. I love how quickly he works, and I got a kick out of that dress. -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 8:01 AMI thought Christian's dress was lame. Of course he was done first if all he did was cut some brown fabric into a high-necked tube and then glue some brown circles to it.
Oh, I also thought the waste of all that candy was embarrassing. They should've put it into a large container and given it to a homeless shelter or something. -

Wed, January 9, 2008 - 1:07 PM"Oh, I also thought the waste of all that candy was embarrassing. They should've put it into a large container and given it to a homeless shelter or something."
I'm not sure that donating a giant bin full of high-fructose corn syrup-sweetened trans fats would really be all that helpful to a shelter that tries to address issues such as malnutrition and disease within the homeless population. I agree that it was a bit cringe-worthy to see all of that "food" go wasted, but if they were going to "donate" the unwrapped candy, the only place I could see making use of it would be some sort of bakery or restaurant that would use it in their desserts. (Some restaurant...Applebee's?...is advertising some sort of cake with Reese's on top, so apparently there are places out there that would use the candy.) -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 1:24 PMit would have been challenging if they required that all candy must be eaten by the models.
help them, they're starving. -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 2:23 PMI was volunteering at a youth homeless shelter and believe me they would've eaten it. I was pretty whorrified by the food that they not only kept stocked in the kitchen, but also the kinds of foods they would try to get supplied to them. There was no emphasis on nutrition or health, basically priority was given to what the residents wanted and liked to eat, which was 98% junk food. It didn't help that the overnight staff would bring in bags from fast food places for their food, and often got food for the residents as well. But I totally see your point. I also volunteer for a soup kitchen and they are all about more nutritious and balanced meals for the clients, so I know it can be done. It just makes me gag seeing all that "food" get thrown out with no effort to try and think of something to do with it besides just literally wasting it. Maybe it could've been melted down to power Willie Nelson's hybrid bong or something.
I know this is a show about clothes and designing, but it just went way overboard on the superficiality and wasteful consumption of American culture for me. -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 2:27 PMOr better yet, they could've sent it over to Padma Lakshmi at Top Chef and had the contestants make a giant-sized dessert out of it for the new Applebee's 'Who Are We Kidding, It's Still Not Good For You So You Might As Well Just Get a Cake Bigger Than Your Head' menu. -

Re: So everyone agrees last episode was boring?
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 9:09 PMi so agree. i thought christian's dress was incredibly boring and safe. i expected a lot more. yeah, i guess it was 'elegant' in a bland way. but gimme a break. yes, christian, there really was a clear reason why you finished so early. and it wasn't because your design was FIERCE.
i thought rami nailed it though. his dress was edgy in a fun almost hello kitty kinda way. if that even makes sense. or would ordinarily even be a good thing. but still, it was playful, fashionable and well constructed.
