    Tim Gunn is the greatest.

I dunno folks...this show seemed a little stupid to me.

Too much coddling of these tragically dressed people.

At least Clinton and Stacy...as annoying as they are...don't mince words or hem and haw around the issues.

And the Gunnster is just too nice to be blunt.

Now Veronica...she can tell it like it is. I just think this nicey-nice premise within the show is silly and it prevents her from speaking her mind like she'd like to.

And you know she'd like to.

Anyway...I'm not overly impressed with TGG2S.

I watched the first ten minutes until the commercial came on and then I turned it off. I didn't want to sit around for an hour while a woman who dresses like a whore still looks like a whore at the end, albeit maybe a higher class call girl. Boring. And I thought it was pretty dumb how they called her up and she acted all surprised that they were coming over. Um, why do you think those cameras were at your house before they called in the first place?? gah.... I did like when she said that she was going to "make it work" to TG's face, though. But unfortunately TG does not have the charisma to host his own show, which is why he should've stuck to commentating on PR. It was nice to see Veronica Webb, though.

i agree with you, rick. it was a very poorly done version of what not to wear. and wtf was up with the shadowbox of that hideous dress they gave her as a parting gift?! UGH.

veronica webb shouldn't be giving anyone fashion advice based on the get ups she had going on in that hour. ew ew ew. she went from stodgy republican marm to wanna be 80s madonna by the end. i gagged every time i saw her.

    None of y'all liked it?

I thought it was cute. Veronica Webb was a little too touchy feely though, and the girl seemed sorta..Capraesque.
But I will keep watching. I love Tim.

I watched it and as you said it's like a more structured-What Not to Wear. The things that stood out-Tim's mantra-what was it-it's how you present yourself, not how others perceive you? I find myself nervous a lot about how I look. The other thing was how red in the face Tim got when Rebecca's husband gave her the ice.com diamond band ring. I never saw him that close to tears before.
I'd hate it if they went through my clothes. It's not like I have tons of designer stuff-I only have a few Liz Clairborne things.

genuine personal 'style' is not about labels - or how many you have in your closet. so i wouldn't worry. i'm always galled by the people who drip from head to toe, advertising every high end designer label all over their bodies, and think that they're the shit.

that does not = style. that just means you know how to spend money. (i mainly shop at Thrift Town and Good Will. and honey, i get compliments all the time. ;-)

I agree that it was snore-rific. Completely boring, and I wanted to kick that life coach guy in the teeth. I thought the clothes that were chosen were boring...just not an interesting show at all. I absolutely prefer WNTW, and usually find that the clothes the people end up with are interesting. Not so with this show.

        > it's how you present yourself, not how others perceive you

        I can agree with that.

But the show really is another What not to Wear, only a WHOLE lot less entertaining.

I love WNTW, its funny and witty, and you can get good pointers. TGGTS gives the same pointers, but with out the fun/funny/wit part.

Ive tried to watch a couple episodes, and couldnt finish them. Either I fell asleep (seriously), or the woman getting the makeover was too annoying to stand.

Without the humor to make an annoying mak-ee (person getting makeover?) tolerable, that makes the show that much more difficult to watch.

And Tim's sort of 'faux emotionalism' strikes me as insincere.

Like he'd go out for a cocktail with ANY of the subjects.

I dunno...I like TG...a lot. But he really seems out of his element. Except when they are hobnobbing with the designers.
